Lecturer (Teaching only) in Portuguese

University of Leeds – School of Languages, Cultures and Societies

Are you an academic with the enthusiasm and ability to carry out research-led teaching in Lusophone culture and history, and to teach Portuguese language? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience?

As a member of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, you will teach across our undergraduate curriculum in Portuguese studies, with a particular focus on Lusophone culture and history. You will convene, teach and assess a number of sole- or co-taught modules across various levels, from an introduction to the Portuguese-speaking world at Level 1 to a research-led module that is similarly broad in scope at Level 3. You will also supervise projects on Lusophone topics at Level 1 and Level 3, and contribute to language teaching to Beginners and more advanced students. You will be expected to undertake administrative duties within the subject area, such as personal tutoring. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the School’s activities, and the teaching of School-wide modules, as appropriate.

You will have a PhD in Lusophone studies or cognate field, and relevant teaching experience at undergraduate level.
